I got my Cattleya from Ebay!

BUT...there is always a but... I have a few concerns on the condition of the plant. Below are a few pictures of the new plants. The roots are in good condition. There is no sign of black or dead rotten roots, but the leaves have their issues. Tell me if you see anything that you consider threatening to the plant itself as well as the others in my yard.

If there is a problem will a light solution of Physan 20 sprayed on the leaves do any good?

I am having trouble uploading pics.

Half of a leaf is brown as in completely dried. Then there are discolorations.

Photos would definately help, but there are some glitches going on at the moment. I got a couple of Catts. from ebay and had similar results. I repotted them in Schultz's orchid mix that I had soaked in worm tea first. I've been watching and waiting and watering when approaching dryness. When I started seeing new growth, I got soo excited! Be patient.

I am very patient with my orchids...I have just never seen half of a leaf brown and the other half healthy (vertically).

I am having trouble rotating the pics. My finder shows them rotated but it gets posted here otherwise.

Do you guys see anything?

I think that there is nothing to worry about. That looks just like some mechanical damage, and maybe some little sunburn. I think that there is no need for panic as long as leaves are firm and green.

Thanks for the reply Aleksa. I had an idea that it wasn't too bad because of the fact that the root are very healthy. Just wanted to make sure with you guys because it from another area in the country.

I also have one cattleya with much more damages, it is growing happily... MAYBE you should be careful with the leaf on the second and first picture. I see some dark coloration in the center. If that starts to spread I'd cut the leaf off. Those infections can be dangerous if reach the rhizome.

FLaCo, looks OK to me. Last picture looks like natural pigment.

What I'll do is spray some physan on it when I transplant it. If it continues I will def. take your advice. Thanks again, guys!

FLaCo the plant looks good. the pigmentation on the leaf edges looks normal for good light and the rest of the pics dont show anything but wear and tear from transport and such.

I think I agree with the others that have posted. The condition is not perfect/flawless but then again few plants are, and the condition of your plant is certainly acceptable in my opinion. It looks like it's about to jump out of the pot so you'll probably want to pot it into a larger pot when the time comes (after blooming or when new growth starts).

We'll be looking forward to pics when you get it to bloom!
