Interesting spike...

I bought this plant last summer at a grocery store for $6 and I thought it was a Noid Oncidium. It just started spiking and now I'm not sure what it is... Maybe a miltonia?? My patience is lacking and I was hoping someone might know what it is.

Well I think it is anOncidium Alliance plant, whether an Oncidium or not....I'm thinking probably not. I suspect maybe something like Marfitch?

That is going to be incredible. I like the long "stringy" petals. Some Brassia have petals like that.

Please keep us updated with more photos.

Guessing on flowers before they open is harder than the lottery but I will add my guess that it is beginning to look like a brassia (spider orchids).

Kind of looks like my Brassada, which is a Brassia x Ada.

Given the second pic, I think my guess of Marfitch was wrong. I re-guess brassia.

Yes Brassia species (if it turns out to be that) are not all big like Brassia Rex. Some are smaller. Same for the hybrids.
