Ludisia discolor - new growth from root/rhizome?

I admit to not knowing much about Ludisia discolor. I got it as a gift a couple months ago and it is my first jewel orchid. It is a single growth that has put on quite a display of flowers from an 18" spike. I've also now noticed what appears to be a new growth; unless it is a root that is poking its way up. Do these plants put up new growth from below the soil? To someone who has more experience with L. discolor, does this look like the start of a new growth to you? Thanks.

You can expect one to three new growths this year.

Ludesia look very good in hanging baskets. When the growth gets long they hang down and after a while they then turn back up so that when in flower they look like the pot is framed.

sure. it just means there's a growth node down there and it's doing its thing. mine crawls all over the windowsill until something breaks off, and i pot up the pieces and spread them around among my friends/relatives.

Sweet, thanks for the responses. I'll post pics as this new growth matures.
