Dendrobium Oriental Smile

This Dend. started budding later than expected, probably because I repotted it when I got it home. It was in sphag...unimaginable, I know.

I've had a lot of success in getting my Dends. to re-bloom. My Catts. however, a sad and different story...

I have the same one however mine got mites last summer and I lost all but one pseudo-
bulb. I have it repotted, the roots look good, but we'll have to see how it does. Anyway,
beautiful blooms Sandra. That was always one of my favorite Dens. I love the blend of
colors.

Sandra

Oriental Smiles is a late blooming Nobile. You will find it always blooms in March after the other colors.

I find I can re-pot them (all Nobile) at any time without a problem. I potted some 6 inch pots with three plants per pot and am looking forward to the results next season.

Yamamoto does seem to add sphag to some of his pots. Coco husks and sphag - that is wet. But I find the Nobile do not rot regardless of how much water I give them (nor does weeks without water seem to hurt) They seem to take anything.

Sandra, Oriental Smile has been on my wish list for some time and one day maybe I will find the right one. Your plant is is lovely and the colour contrasts make it even more desirable.

Beautiful color combinations, Sandra! Most dens look alike to me, but this one is definitely something I would call one of a kind Good growing!!

Jerry, thanks for letting me know. I thought it was set back because of the re-pot I did. Sweet Song 'Memory' is next on my list. Have any?

Jenny, while I didn't get this one from 'our' Jerry, he's got a ton of them for sale, if you're interested.
Bill, I hope you find one soon!

patlee, all the Yamamoto's are unique. Most of the ones I've seen are very thick and waxy and indescribably beautiful.
