Superthrive

Hey people...I just bought a bottle of Superthrive and I want your opinion(s) with regard to it's proper use. The directions say add 1/4 tsp. per gallon of water (added to, not instead of fertilizer). Seems pretty cut and dried. Opinions please... how often do you use this stuff and do you find it effective? I'm 'gonna use it for the first time tonight, as it's time to feed;what say you
Thanks.

Hi John,
There are many threads on Superthrive here. Just go to the Search function, type in Superthrive, and you'll be able to find heaps of information. Generally, people use less, just a few drops, I believe.

I agree. ST can also have an effect on blooming (it can retard it) so you may not want to use it in place of ferts. Its allegedly a growth hormone. When I use it, 2-5 drops / gallon during growth cycle

I've used it, 2 drops per gallon, year round anytime I water. I also use a small amount when I hydrate sphag the first time and my coir mix on the final soak.

I did an experiment on Superthrive a few years ago, with seedlings of a biennial. Used two little 6-packs of tiny seedlings, same place outdoors in the sun, one watered with superthrive and one with plain water.

The superthrive flat got a lot bigger, and had roots galore; the water flat plants were probably half as big, and had roots, but nowhere near as many. It definitely works.

I don't use it any more, but just because I use Hormex instead.

superthrive is a root hormone so I am not surprised to see someone say it might reduce flowering.

It is excellent when planting seedlings or re-potting. A couple of drops per gallon of fertilizer water seems to be good. It has a shot life when mixed with fertilizer, use it within 48 hours or less.
