This morning I noticed 3 spikes in a Disa compot that had been deflasked without tubers 3-4 months ago. I doubt the plants were older than 12-15 months at deflasking. I removed the spikes immediately so, unfortunately, no photo's. Jerry, I'm also curious to know which Dendrobiums will flower 12-18 months from seed.

I have den. phal. type (Sarapee x Prateep) that usually take 3 months from tiny keiki to mature and 1 month to flower, that's a total of 4 months from baby to flowering! (This is OT, you're talking about from seed to blooming, not from keiki.) Last edited by Lanie; 02-24-2008 at 10:52 PM.

I'm actually surprised that a Dendrobium would bloom in that short a time. Most that I have grown need a few canes under their belt before they're big enough to flower. I know it's not uncommon for some Sarcochilus to bloom while still in the flask although that's usually after 18-24 months in the flask when they're ready to come out. As for quick flowering orchids, I have had Thelymitra and Diuris flower in 18-24 months from seed.
