Ellen's seed update

The babies are hanging in there. Hard to see from these photos, but I'll keep you posted.

Does anyone know about how long it takes for these to get to transplant size?

the green stuff looks like algae and needs spraying or they will kill the seeds.

Ditto what Kmarch said also.

They are some of the seeds that Ellen sent out for people to experiment with. She's having some flasked, and wanted folks to try different methods.
I only planted some of what she sent, because I want to try different things.

What do you suggest I spray them with?

They are Bletilla striata seeds (terrestrial)
Thanks, Kevin & Tom!

Any kind of antibacterial spray you use for plants should be good.

Try and keep them in a well aired spot to limit algae build up.

Good luck with germination

Thanks Tom- The seeds have germinated. There's a better picture that I posted in another thread. The spray won't hurt the seedlings? Thanks for your help!

They've germinated - congratulations! Looks like you've got a lot of little green protocorms growing on your medium. The algae's probably not good, but I wouldn't spray with chemicals, just let it dry out a bit.
