I bought another plant at Loew's. I felt so sorry for it. The main growth is brown and dry. From the top were two healthy flower spikes. It was obvious that the plant was in it's death throes. It has one little green shoot coming from the dead growth. I was wondering if you brought any of your Tolumnias back from near death and what you might suggest I could do with this one.

Nancy, 2 that I bought from a local vendor were in pretty bad condition, the leaves looked bad, no leads which these plants typically grow vigorously. I have grown these all different ways and notice a huge, positive difference when they're in sphag. They can handle bright light but dappled is ok too and during the hot weather, I keep them more on the wet side. After flowering is when I start seeing a lot of growth. Definitely sphag. for these.

Nancy, I meant to add that the 2 that were in bad condition, continued on to grow new leads after they were transferred into the sphag. and kept constantly moist.

This plant is potted as the others are. It's in a clay pot with a little bit of charcoal. I don't want to disturb it too much. Can I just apply some spag on top after I pull out all loose pieces of charcoal? I've at least got some moisture back into it and one of the tiny leaves is dark green so there's life there.
