willing Cycnoches back to life

I have two cycnoches plants in dormant phases now, and I have used ALL my restraint to not water or even mist them AT ALL for two months. Yesterday, I was amazed and delighted to see that the Cycnoches Wine Delight has produced a new growth at the base of the one firm pseudobulb, and there are new roots shooting down into the medium just like the textbooks say! Hallalujah!!!

But, gulp, the Cycnoches Chloroge 'Everglade' shows no sign of new life, even though it bloomed first and went dormant first, and even though it re-bloomed for me this year very successfully. Since this plant rebloomed, there are now TWO dormant pseudobulbs showing no life. In the back of my mind, I worry that I was to have eliminated one of these, to encourage the other one to regrow a new shoot, and that if there are two pseudobulbs, it won't regrow. Dare I keep hoping??? Please say yes!!!

Rest easy. You've done nothing wrong from the sounds of it. It was fine, preferable actually, to leave the 2 bulbs together. Separating them would not have triggered growth and would only have weakened the plant. Keep doing it by the book and you should be ok.

Joan ,I sympathize with you,the hardest thing to do is nothing, but sometimes that is all there is to do,wait and let your plant rest.

So glad to hear from fellow fanatics. AND lo and behold, while the server was down, I believe there may have been the tiniest sign of growth of roots on 'everglade'!!! Either the lesson is to complain and whine to make things happen, or the server going down is good for us... OR like you say, patience just wins out. I'll keep you'all posted but my hope is renewed. Thanks

Do not give up Joan. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

In the mean time you can always purchase new orchids while waiting.

Getting more is always the best. Beats staring at the clock anyday. (I'm going to end up babying mine to death.) It pays off though.
