Not a Yellow Bird, but ???

This plant was procured last year, and arrived with dead roots as opposed to bare ones. Recovery has been super and the since formed bud just popped.

It isn't the expected yellow, but still looks to fall into the Brassocattleya group. Any ideas?

Thanks. Jeff

It does look like a Brassocattleya. As far as I know, the color changes from a mauve-type color to yellow as the flower ages. Having a Bc. Yellow Bird, I don't think it'll end up being yellow. The one I have starts with having mauve to dark lavender coloring, then later changes to yellow.

However, yours may start a bit darker than mine? I suggest waiting for several days to see what the end color will be.

Anybody else think the leaves looks a lot like the division we got from Epiphyte

Might just be wishful thinking--I like the flower a lot

Hi Jeff,Ive had that kind of misfortune also. That doesn't look like a Blc. Yellow Bird, you're right cuz mine looks nothing like that either. It's very pretty though... I'll try to look around for something close to it.

Jeff, The closest I could find is Bl. Morning Glory. It's hard to tell because your flower isn't fully opened , but check it out. Goodluck!! DPChallenge - A Digital Photography Contest
