| I don't like mine to get too warm while they are forming buds but 2-3C is getting cold for a flowering spike, but not for the plant. Can you move it to an unheated but light area inside until the flowers are open and then move it to a warmer place. |

| TWINS!?!?!?! My! You're going to be raising much more than orchids! Here in Melbourne, Australia, where I can grow Cymbidiums outdoors all year, the lowest temps we have are about 5C (41F). I think that 2-3C (35-37F) would not be significantly different. It's still above freezing. Will it get any colder or is this the worst of it? If it won't get any colder, I think you're ok to leave them out until the blooms have opened nicely. When it's cooler, the buds develop more slowly but the flowers are also bigger and last longer so i'd be of the opinion you should leave it as cool as possible for as long as possible.

| DDS I am SOOO happy for you!!!! Congratulations! I just have this feeling you will be a great Mom. Get ready for bedrest....and lots of time on Orchidgeeks.....this coming from a high risk Labor and Delivery nurse AND personal experience! I've seen all sides of it from Neonatology through delivery. Then again, some women just breeze right through it. I used to tell peolpe "I spend half my day getting women INTO labor, and the other part of my day getting women OUT of labor." It will be a great day when someone figures out what triggers it. Seems funny to go to orchids after such great news (I'm so excited for you!!). We can get down to 30 (-1 C) at times just overnight then warm up to the 50's (10C) during the day. My cyms do just fine. If it is windy as well as cold I will group them together near a fence or wall, mostly out of protection from the wind. Mine tolerate 30-100 (-1 - 38C) degrees very easily.
