Cattleya intermedia-is this a sheath?

Cattleya intermedia-is this a sheath? I have had this little guy for a few months, and I'm not sure quite what I'm looking at here.

It is thinner than the leaf? Sheaths are very thin, almost paper thin. If it is thicker, like a leaf, it is probablhy a leaf. C. intermedia is bifoliate.

It looks like a new leaf. But can't really tell.

It's a new leaf in the process of unfurling. The sheath can be found inside this leaf.

Intermediate is a bifoliate, so expect 2 leaves, which is what we are seeing. Be patient, that growth looks big enough to bloom. Next little leaf to be exposed will be the sheath.
