Help with Inherited Catts.

Hello All,
I am happy to say that after a few months that my Phals with severe root damage are now sprouting new leaves and roots after the bagging method, so thanks for the great advice. My Keiki has also seemingly returned from the dead, sprouting a new leaf as well. Now, I have inherited a Catt, which seemed to be in rough shape. I have no experience with this species, and when I was going to repot it, I ended up separating it as well. This may have been stupid, and I was wondering if I have finished it off. I now have four parts in four 4" pots. What should I be looking for, and what should I do? I wish that I had asked for advice before forging ahead, but oh well. Thanks for any help,
Patrick

Also, I was hoping to grow outside for the summer. I am in Atlanta GA, and have a porch which gets bright, partially direct morning light, and afternoon shade. Can Catts take the high 90 deg. temps?

90 degrees is cool for SW Florida summers. We have been that hot already. The cats love it. I have had them in 100 for as long as a month. Just water a lot when it is that hot. They will dry out quickly.

Your sunlight is on the low end for cats but should be fine. They take almost three times as much sun as phals.

I would leave yours now that you have separated them. If they do really badly, you could try the sphag and bag technique on them it works well, but is usually not necessary.

You should look for new roots coming from the base of the pseudobulbs growing down. They will have a bright green tip. Later you will see a new green pseudobulb growing upward from the base. Do not expect to see any growth out of the old bulbs and leaves.

If you divided them into anything less than three pseudobulbs each, don't look for bloom until they have at least that many. Three bulbs is the minimun, four or more are much better. You will just have to be patient.
