Shameless Pride

I do have to admit that this is really a beginner's luck. I am nevertheless very proud. The new inflorescence on the Beallara I purchased late Sept. ( and potted in my mix) has performed beyond my expectation. The stalk itself is about 75cm (30") and each flower is 12-14cm (5-6") across and about 10-12cm (4-5"), vertically.

I am posting a photo of it with other flowers (pic1) and also with the last inflorescence ( quite dried) I had a few weeks ago (pic2).

I hope it will last a while

We had two orchid society members bring in Beallara Marfitch "Howard's Dream" AM/AOS into our meeting last night. One was potted up in an 8 inch pot and had about a dozen spikes! Was it ever a sight. Just think what you have to look forward to! Your current "WOW" may one day be an even bigger knock your socks off WWWWWWOOOOOOOWWWWW!

Debbie Hayden: I have no idea how long the bloom will last.The last one that has dried up now stayed on for about three weeks. But it went through 2 re-pottings when it had the buds. This one started budding in the same pot and I am hoping it will last longer.

mayres: Thanks. I hope I will have more spikes next time but not at the expense of the size. These are very big flowers

You are no beginner, pikevi. Those flowers are absolutely beautiful !! My beallara didn't do too well last blooming season, the flowers didn't open fully and only lasted less than a week. Yours, however look like they'll be around a while--good growing!

What beautiful blooms! I love the markings. I got B Eurostar in June and it bloomed for weeks! Just kept throwing another spike 6 in all. Well done!
