It looks like Paph. Doctor Toot. But I'm not sure. Our Paph expert, kmarch, should be able to help you better. However, there are no guarantees.

Thanks, from looking at the pictures, I think it's the Lyro Nancy Watts...now I am going to have issues finding it I see.

There are about a half-dozen different hybrids this could be. Reliable identification will be impossible without DNA analysis, but the other members are headed in the right direction. It is likely to be a primary hybrid (a cross between 2 species) using Paph delenatii crossed with a member of the Corypetalum section which is the section that contains species like Paph rothschildianum, Paph philippinense, and others.

The flower is not Paph. Lyro Nancy Watts. Lyro Nancy Watts is concolor x wilhelminiae. This flower is a delenatii cross. It could be Doctor Toot (delenatii x kolopakingii) but I am inclined to suspect it is Delrosi (delenatii x rothschildianum) only because it is probably the more common of the delenatii-Cory crosses.

I have a Paph Delrosi in bud and will post pictures of it when it opens.

Is this your plant, psyc1210?

No, I wish it was though. I really love the coloring and pattern. So I might be adding a paph to my family soon.

DO! I find Paphs to be very easy to grow and the blooms as you've noticed are quite exotic and rich in their patterns and colours.

Before you delve into Paphs, go to American Orchid Society and download a culture sheet for Paphs or read the cultural info on this forum for Paphs. Make sure you can provide the conditions they like.

Most people choose as their first Paph what we call a Maudiae type. These types of Paphs have beautiful mottled leaves which are enjoyable even when the plant is not in bloom and they seem to grow more quickly than some other types of Paph.

Some Paphs require a bit of patience as they do not bloom every year. Some bloom more like every other year. If the Paph in the picture is Paph Delrosi, and I think there is a good chance it is, this plant is somewhat slow growing but as you cna see, well worth the patience.
