Heat

Rescued a big beautiful cattleya out of flower at Lowe's today. As expected most of the roots were rotten. Took it out the pot, snipped off all of the dead roots. It was in my parked car bare root for maybe 20 minutes, windows rolled up, shaded parking lot. Came back to get after forgetting, car was warm not hot, plant's leaves were HOT. Is this plant doomed to a slow decline? Bummer, because I was certain this plant would thrive if given proper TLC...

A more appropriate question would be: If I did burn the leaves to a point that would set the plant back, would it be evident in time?, how would it be manifested-dry patches on otherwise healthy leaf tissue?

You would definitely see some blackening or at least some physical change. I don't think you have much to worry about long term. I bet the orchid bounces right back.

A little TLC and it'll be back and you'll get the rewards.

If the leaves do not look damaged, then there's probably no serious damage. If there's no visible damage, I think your plant will be fine.
