3 Flowering Phals!!! i have three phalaenopsis that are going into spike. one looks like it will be blooming by spring, but the other two will be probably late spring or early-mid summer, as they are just coming up. what should i do? i have them under a grow light and they seem to be fine with it. i also boosted their fertalizer. thanks!!!

The warmer you keep your phals the quicker they will come into bloom. Note the following chart exerpt taken from a university study comparing start of spike to bloom BY temperature. Different hybrid crosses and species of phals will vary - this is just to show how temperature affects one particular type. 57 degrees F - 266 days 63 degrees F - 133 days 68 degrees F - 87 days 73 degrees F - 68 days 76 degrees F - 52 days

Congrats! I've got 2 phals in spike so far and I'm toooooo excited so you must be beside yourself! Mike, thanks for that chart. We've been having unseasonably warm temps here....boring! The temps dropped maybe 10 degrees a while back and that's when I noticed my 2 spikes. I'll settle for a longer time from spike to bloom for some more colder weather though = more spikes! Wishing.....

i am really looking foreward to this. i have seen each of their flowers, but only one was very beautiful. the other two were kind of discount worthy. i have a pink and white one, which is my avatar, an everspring king(purple and white dots) and a white one with a yellow throat that i bought @ wal-mart.

just the new spike ones, i have never had this happen so i am just guestimating how long till flowers arrive. but i guess the 6-8 weeks sounds better, but they seemed to grow so darn slow! so i lengthened the estimate
