Question Newbie Phale flower buds dropping off

Hi,

I bought 2 white healthy flowering Phalenopsis a week ago, have had them inside and have noticed the buds at the end are discolouring and look as though they will not open and will drop off.

Can you please advise me as to what causes this?

I live in semi tropical climate so the temp is warm and humid, I have watered them once since bringing home waiting until the medium, which is a mix of bark and spagnum, to feel just damp.

They are inside under a sky light.

Thought maybe it is due to the change of conditions that they may have come from.

Would appreciate any information you can supply as to what the cause of this is.

Many thanks

Bud drop on Phals when you bring them home or change their conditions is rather common. It's the change in environment that causes the bud drop. Bud drop can even occur on a plant you've had for a long time if you move the plant to a different place in your home while it is in bud.

Eventually your plant will adjust to your conditions and rebloom, probably next year.

Smile Thank You

Thank you so much for the quick response, I thought this may be a possibility with the change of conditions, so am pleased it is not something I have done.

Many thanks
