What should i do once my orchid has finished flowering

I have recently been given an orchid as a gift, it flowers have now dropped off, and i am now wondering what i should do with the orchid now, does it need cutting back? do i continue to water , i really dont have a clue, as this is all very new to me, as i have never had an orchid, Many thanks Jo

Hi and welcome to the forum Joanne. First of all it would be very helpful if you could
update your profile and let us know where you live. Second, we need to know what
type of orchid you have. I'm guessing a Phalaenopsis, but a definite ID would help to
determine what to do. When you can, please post a pic so we can see your orchid.
