New orchid

Well I lost out on my bids for 2 orchids on ebay but I did make an offer on another one and they accepted. Its Lc. Caudebec 'Martys Orchids'. Its a mericlone. 2" pot. I got it for $5 and shipping is $8. Its pink with red freckles and dark pink lip.

Sounds beautiful I know it will be a while, but I can hardly wait to see pics. The color combination should be spectacular.

You live in my neck of the woods--sort of. I don't know if I'd be brave enough to order from states that could be having really nasty weather.I guess I would imagine that poor orchid sitting in an icy storeroom someplace...But I may feel differently in a month or so. I'll probably be so desperate for a new baby, I'll be willing to chance it--More power to you

No problem, we're from the same latitude so I can sympathize with you and this nasty weather. I was looking forward to spending tomorrow in the woods (its my day off) but NOO...we have to get freezing rain and snow instead. I like snow but the freezing rain will keep me home. I envy my new orchid, its coming from Honolulu which is where I'd like to be this time of year (strange coming from a Norweign).

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the speckled Catts. If I was forced to grow only one kind of Catt, it would be the speckled ones. One of my Favorite is C. Lulu.

theres some similarities between C lulu & my new acquisition. I wonder if they have a similar lineage? pardon the lack of proper terminology as im a novice orchid keeper.

I'd have to research the parentage but it would not suprise me in the least to find commn parents, most likely Cattleya amethistoglossa.
