I was playing video games with the kids, and I look over at my Neofinetia falcata, and asked them what's on Mom's plant? I get up and pick it up OMG! 4 days ago when I watered it I saw nothing, and today?????? I think I need a Whoo-Hoo! ![]() ![]()

| Well it was probably there in some form, I just was concerned with the roots in the humidity here. Even still, Whoo-Hoo!

| Awww thanks for looking Fred. I am really excited about the blooms, but I am just as excited because once it's done blooming it will grow a new fan for me. I love the leaves as much as the blooms hee hee. Another Whoo-Hoo just cause I'm happy. And I was worried about the light level, sheesh.

| OOPS!!! I just posted on the other Neo thread by mistake. Oh well. I was saying Jenny mentioned the ink and light possibility but since I also lost a couple of leaves I thought it was sick. Now it is growing new roots so it's fine. Anyone have a yellow Neo? Oh I want one of those too someday. I'll get a pink one first though since less expensive.

| While we're on the topic, lets indulge our addictions a bit... These are the varieties I want to buy: Kibana -- yellow flowers. Suikaden -- white flowers with green tips. this is the only "green" flowers I'm interested in. Benisuzume -- pink flowers in a different way than Shutennou. Gekkeikan -- I don't like stripped variegation much but you gotta have one at least I've seen some other ones that I can't remember. I'm also more interested in foliage varieties than flower varieties. I saw a variegated bean leaf that is super rare (super expensive!). |

| Maggots? I checked my new Neos again to see if they still had signs of pests. In my Houmeiden, I saw this silvery stuff which on closer inspection looked like cobwebs or dried snail slime. I poked and prodded to see if there was anything moving and found a maggot! Immediately, I gave it another dose of 3-in-1 spray and waited a minute. Checked again and the thing was crawling with maggots which were trying to escape the chemicals. I picked out as much as I could, about a dozen. There's probably more in there. Their gut was green indicating they were eating something... I'm guessing the algae growing on the sphag. |
