Advice needed for Angraecum Sesquipedale

Hi folks,
I'm hoping some of you have Angraecum Sesquipedale or know something of its culture.
I have a beautiful plant, mature, grew well this past summer producing three new leaves with another comming on now.
My question is:
What should I be doing at the current time to encourage blossoming? I would love to have this in bloom for Christmas, it just seems so appropriate.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Al

Holy Smokes! I just noticed the award for the October Photo Competition.
My heartfelt thanks to all who judged my photo. I am truly humbled and more determined than ever to "keep on trying".
Again, thank you.

Grow it in intermediate light conditions. A sheltered east or west window, no
direct sunlight. Also intermediate temps. Day temps 70-78 and night temps
60-68F. They prefer a short cool period after flowering but no definite rest
period. Lots of air movement and provide about 60% humidity. Keep them
evenly moist (like Paphs and Phals.) Fertilize weakly weekly during the summer.
The grow well in baskets or pots of bark or sphag. with good drainage.

I don't know how similar it is to Angraecum elephantinum, which I have mounted on cork. I mist it daily or twice a day and dunk it briefly every week or two. It lives outside on a north-facing porch all through summer and then hangs near a south-facing window in winter. It seems quite tolerant of these conditions. Next year's spike forms in a leaf axil shortly after the old one finishes with its bloom period (weeks). The little shoot sits there doing nothing obvious until early summer, when it starts to elongate. It is thrilling to watch the blossom and spur unfold over the course of ten days to two weeks. -- Bill

Thanks everyone, Bill, this plant has never blossomed before so I have nothing to go on. It has been growing in much the same conditions as your elephantinum, so *maybe* this will be THE year, although it seems as if I should be seeing some sign by now.........one thing I've discovered about orchids, they will do what they want, when they want. LOL

Al - Yes. The saddest words of tongue or pen are these: My orchid may bloom, but when?

My Angraecum languished for a couple of years and then started to put out. I think high light, with some direct morning sun, may have done it, but maybe it was just the passage of time. It certainly managed the whole performance without worm tea, of which I was ignorant at the time. - Bill
