| there is life after crown rot One of my Phals suffered crown rot for no good reason 3 months ago I removed the rot and poured peroxide onto the cut have always watered it with worm tea The pot is full of lovely green roots and i had left 2 flower stems cut back to above a node Today I noticed either the start of a new flower stem or a keiki growing out of one of the stems So only time will tell the result but seems positive right now |

| Keep hoping for a spike-keiki. I have a crown-less plant that has subspiked THREE TIMES now. I've had to re-cut off the spike the first two times because they were flowers and I'm waiting with baited breath to see what round number three will bring - flowers or leaves. Hopefully you will have better luck than me. |

| I have a spike Keiki on another rescue Phal 2 of my Phals that were in full bloom in February have only just dropped the flowers but are stll both producing more large buds on the ends of the spikes ..........unbelievable I guess either they like their position or its the worm tea |

| Holy Moly 8+ months of blooming I am lucky if I get 8 days of blooming!!!! Just kidding I get about 8 wks from my phals who are now starting to put out some new leaves, so there is hope for me yet!!!! |

| It must be something in the air or water, flowerchild. My Phal. blooms' average life span is just about that too, may be a bit less.

| I think that in most monopodials, losing the crown causes hormones that promote basal growths, but don't know if it helps with keikis, as most of my monopodials that lost their top center of growth were not Phals, but were Vandaceous.

| This is a baby from the roots of an orchid that died of ,possibly, crown rot. It was separatwd from a rescued Phal. from Rona (building supplies). There were two orchids in one pot and this one was almost gone and without leaves. The good one was separated and is doing well.Since there were some green roots with 'life' on the 'dying' one I just potted it into a separate pot and left it alone. I believe it was in April of this year. The growth is coming from deep down. I have not looked below the surface yet. There is definitely hope for your orchid, justloveorchids. Good luck.
