Potting Mixes

Talking about potting mixes for orchids. I find toilet tissue a pretty go mix for growing Paphs. Has anyone tried this before?

It seems like it would work, but I do not see any advantage over sphagnum moss, which is a common medium for paphs.

It seems like it can pack down and probably deteriorates too fast.

then also you never know what kinds of color dyes or chemicals may be present in the tissue.

Well, you may have very different toilet tissue where you live. I have always complained that the tissue we get here (USA) is nothing more than organized lint, and totally unfit for its purpose. (my personal pet-pieve) I expect that it would be even more unfit as a potting mix. Cynthia, Prescott, AZ

hee hee hee!! "organized lint" so true, so true.

go for 100% post consumer recycled; not the most -ahem- comfortable experience, but it holds together.

might be usuable for plant purposes too.....
