| Aerides multiflorum Has anyone grown Aerides in s/h? I am thinking about getting a couple of these vandaceous species, since they are small and has a great fragrance. Do they require the same care as the larger Vandas? Any advice? Tks! ![]() |

| I have a multiflora that hasn't bloomed yet, needs a little more growth after being imported. But I have had a fieldingii (very, very similar to multiflora) and houlletiana for some time, and for most of these I would ignore any cultural advice that says high light. These should be in light between Catt and Phal. I have them hanging over my Phals and other low light plants. I am not sure I would call any of these small. They may take a while to get very tall, but they have a pretty respectable leaf span, with houlletiana (and falcata) being more tall the wide. Jay Pfal has multiflora and fieldingii listed as small. I am sure this is a mistake, and I will email him about it. My fieldingii has a leaf span over a foot, maybe a foot and a half. If you want small, go for Ascocentrums. They come in a number of colors. These are the plants that made Ascocendas samller than Vandas. They take Catt light. Ascocentrum (as-co-SEN-trum): Camp Lot A Noise Tropicals

| Hi Cynthia, Thanks for your reply. You are right, I had a look at my book today and it says that Aerides multiflora can have a leaf span up to 2ft! It can also grow up to 3ft...What da??? When they said 'small' I was thinking may be a phal size vanda. Ok, I am new to vanda growing... |
