Dendrobiums are such tough plants. Unless you drown them literally, it's hard to kill them I guess.
There are care sheets available from the American Orchid Society. You may want to check them out.
I would advice you to find out what kind of Dend. it is that you have as the nobile type and Den-Phalaenopsis types are different in nature.
All of my Dendrobiums are in very coarse bark / horticulture charcoals / with bit of Schultz orchid mix in pots. I water them once every 3 days or so. With once a 2 weeks feeding of fertilizers. They reward me with flowers that last months.
One of my Dend. was just dried up canes with what seemed all dead roots. I didn't have the hearts to throw that away into the trash can. So that little thing went up to my mounting tree. Just hanged there for about 3 months.. Now it has 5 inch keiki growing in the middle of it. It's like a dead come alive again.. so I call it Zombie ..
