Smile Young Cymbidiums

Hi All

I have started some Cymbidiums from a flask and it appears I may be doing something wrong as there appears to be moss or something similar growing on top of the medium.

I have them growing in Sphagnum moss any suggestions would be appreciated.

Rod

Can you get a sharper image Rod ?

From what I can make out, it just looks like sphagnum moss, but a sharper image will help.

It looks like algae on the sphagnum. You're not doing anything wrong, it just tends to grow when you fertilise sphagnum. It won't harm a plant of that size and is not worth worrying about.

Talking of young cymbids, this a 2-1/2 year old cymbidium, first flower.

Looks like algae to me. Last time I saw green mold I was a boy trying to make wine in my bedroom closet after pressing grapes thru moms nylons into a tang jar that I put cheese cloth over top of because I didnt have the lid. Mom found it after a month. talk about technicolor. the different colored fluff in that jar rivals a Cattleya hybrid.
