I tried to mount a keiki when it is 'STILL' attached to the 'mother'.
I propped the the stalk with the keiki with two little stakes, for strength. And I used a piece of fish-net stitched in the shape of a cone. Tied the narrow end of the cone just below the keiki and filled it with lots of sphagnum moss and a little bark, coconut husk and perlite. I ran a thread along the top of the net, like a 'purse-string' and tightened it.
I assume it will have both the benefit of receiving nutrients from the mother as well as making its own, or so I hope
The extra weight does not affect the mother or the keiki since it is well distributed onto the props.
Would this be an acceptable way of handling a keiki?
I am attaching before and after photos of the keiki.
Thanks.
