Warm leaves bad?

Hi guys,
I just couldn't figure out a good spot for my phals to get good light. I found a spot that gets lots of morning light, alittle of afternoon, watch them closely, they are growing new leaves or roots but when i put my face or back of hand against the leaves, they are sometimes warm, not hot though. Is this a bad thing?

Not sure what the threshold is, but warmth/heat at some point is what will kill phal leaves. If you have some good air circulation over them this will help keep the leaves cooler and they will be able to withstand more sun than without. You can lower the heat quite a bit by just moving them back a foot or more from the light source if possible. Good luck - mike

I wouldn't take the chance of leaving them so close to the window. The moment you happen to touch it, it may be just warm, but hot at another part of the day. Phals don't need much light; I would back it away as Mike suggests above.

If your plant gets morning light and a little of the afternoon, it must be catching the sun at the hottest part of the day and that's not good for phals. I agree with Mike and Phalpal, I would move it back a little.

Thanks guys, the window sill has only a 5-6 foot ledge...they have nice growth in here with a celing fan, but the fan is just not adequate. I'm going to move them off the sill completely, their new home will be significantly lower light (no shadow on leaves from finger above) but I don't want to take any chances burning them

I believe warm leaves put you at risk of some degree of sumburn. Consider either less direct light or better air circulation. If you can feel air movement in your growing area you've probably got good air circulation.
