I was out misting my vandas with worm tea, when I noticed new spikes on both of my Robert's Delights! My #31 spike is bigger than my Pulchara Red, but they are both there. I didn't know they would bud again this summer.
I also repotted all my orchids this Sunday. I wish I would have had PhalPals info on Aussie Gold before I started, but I didn't. I have been having problems with humidity, lack thereof, in the house. A/C running constantly and the house temp going up to 85 degrees during the day when we're not home to conserve energy. So, I put a loose 'blanket' of sphagnum moss around the roots of all my plants. Then I used the medium appropriate for the paphs and phals I repotted. I increased the amount of sphagnum moss around my Brassia. In an attempt to regulate the moisture, I made sure a skewer was placed in the spaghnum blanket of each one. I'm now watching every day. I'm very nervous, but, am willing to experiment.
My Brassia, BTW, has two spikes about three inches long and another one just forming. I'm very happy.
Hope my phals and paphs are going to be happy. My paph bud blasted on me, so I repotted it and the other two I bought on sale. I did the same thing for them. My on paph that had the blased bud has a new plant forming on the side and a new plant growing on the root very close to the base. I left these both on. Should I have removed the old plants that have already bloomed?
I look forward to any and all suggestions and/or comments. I can always repot. I'm especially unsure about the paphs.
Sorry, no pictures, my grandson was here and not very happy that I was spending a lot of time with the flowers. Pictures, potting and grandsons don't go well together. hehehehehe
