Orchids for ID

This dendrobium orchid was collected during a trekking at Yewoor forest, Mumbai.
Which dendrobium variety is this? What are the cultural requirement?

Thanks

Mani

I'm afraid there isn't quite enough to go on yet to give it a postive ID. When it blooms please post a pic and give some of the flower measurements and we'll have a much better chance of ID-ing the orchid.

Regarding the culture, you said you collected it form the wild? What are the conditions in th elocation where it was collected? Looking at the plant's natural habitat is the best way to figure out its cultural requirements.

Finally, in many countries around the world it is illegal to collect orchids form the wild. It this the case in your country?

Thanks kmarch for your reply.
What are the conditions in th elocation where it was collected? - The forest is Western Ghats, Evergreen forest, Very humid and raining during June to September. It is very near to our city.
Finally, in many countries around the world it is illegal to collect orchids form the wild. It this the case in your country? - Yes I know it is illegal in many countries. But here we can collect for our home use and not for any commercial gain. I will plant some back to the forest when it overgrows the wood where I have mounted it. So I dont have any guilty feeling.

I will send the photograph when it blooms.

Mani

Looks like a phal-type dendrobium hybrid. Too many of them to be able to give an ID. As far as the culture is concerned, go to AOS | Home and get a Dendrobium culture sheet. This culture sheet is geared toward phal-type hybrids. Do not confuse a phal-type dendrobium with a Phal )Phalaenopsis). They're completely different orchids.
