Hi Connie, yes they can. Many orchids are suitable for mounting on bark and you should find a sheet dedicated to the method used on the forum site. If you can't find it, click on search in the menu bar and type in 'mounting orchids'. You will find many threads on the subject.

Hi SB, that is a nice bloom on your LC and fragrant as well. The bark mount is also nice quality, it could have been sculpted. Really good for you!

Thanks, and yes, in my limited experience I am enjoying the bloom, fragrance, and the athestic (spl?) composition of the whole thing. This one had just been mounted when purchased. The "sculpted" look probably due to this being a piece of driftwood with the plant sitting just above a remnant branch. It has been interesting watching the roots reach out and around the driftwood, and this one has been the most influential in shifting my focus to mounted orchids.

Yeah - what kmarch said, because I am speechless

How often do you have to water, slippery_biscuit?

Thanks,
Jo

Just Gorgeous, I especially love the muted/pastel color of the flower and on such a compact plant, i love mini catts

Watering... I give the mounted plants a wash in the morning. My nozzel is more of a fine spray than a mist. But, they get quite wet. Then maybe once or twice I mist the rest of the day. That part of the job just got a bunch of relief as I hooked up a short duration mist system today. Still need to tweak it but I could probably go for a watering every 2-3 days once it is online.

So how does the photo deal work?? I'll root around and find it. Sure, why not?

Congratulations, slippery_biscuit.

It looks cool , especially being mounted. Flower is nice. But I like the unblemished leaves as well.

Best of wishes for more flowers.

Whoa....now you're talking my kind of flower SB. My next project (and soon) will be mounting a catt. After seeing yours, it'll be even sooner than planned.

I have said repeatedly that I'm going to stick to phals since they grow nicely for me. Now I have phals, paphs, cymbidium, a psychopsis, and a brassia. I wonder when the catt will sneak in? If I keep seeing blooms like this, one will find it's way!

slippery_biscuit,

Very nice. I really like how it's mounted on that driftwood.

I have an Lc. Mini Purple 'Blue Hawaii' and am thinking of mounting it since its pot got knocked down by the wind last week. Right now, it's just sitting on top of whatever media is left in the pot.
