I had a unexpected wonderful day. It all started the beginning of the week while looking for coir to purchase. Before Mike had told me of the distributor for the coir he purchases for his phals, I began looking on the internet and of course, ebay. I did a search for the coconut coir and, got a hit! Upon further checking out this seller's site, I came across tons of orchids and upon further checking, discovered supplies I was interested in. I emailed the buyer,
MACHIELA'S ORCHIDS informing him of the close proximities we were to one another and without hesitation, he invited me to feel free to come by and look around and see what he's got for sale. I was going to go over to the distributor Mike recommended but Fort Lauderdale was a little out of my way and decided to first get my other supplies from this seller and see what else he had. (I ended up getting the coir he had which he uses and swears by.)
This sweet looking lady holding a gorgeous new baby answered the door and took me to hubby's GH. This very sweet man greeted me and all I can say is I was blown away. Orchids everywhere. I was oohing and aahing....he was delighted to show me around....he told me about this orchid and that orchid and orchid's I had never heard of, dendrobiums I had never seen the likes of, mounted orchids, beautiful, beautiful plants. I told him what I was interested in (everything

) and he invited me back next week when he get's his order in to pick and choose. His prices are incredibly reasonable and his shipping charges when using ebay are the lowest I've seen. He was what I call a "feel good" person to be around, good, good karma. He then asked me what kind of orchids I usually get to which I answered, "catts." He asked, "Do you like this one?" I think my eyes bugging out of my head, were a clue. He took it down and said, "Here, take this. It'll free up some more room for the more that I'm expecting." I didn't want to take it....really I didn't but he insisted so, what's a girl to do? I took it.
P.S.
Vivienne, this seller has Schomburgkias. I told you I would let you know when I found another one. You loved mine and asked me about it once, so if you're still interested, PM or email me and I'll follow up on this for you!
Here's the cattleya Mr. Machiela gifted me. What a nice day this was...
P.S. It's high up on a shelf in a pretty pot now.....far, far away and out of reach from kitty Lilly who loves the taste of cattleya leaves....whew!
