Phal Keikis

Hi all,
I have a few Phals that has been blooming for months and the "spikes" are growing longer. I need some advice on how to get keikis out from the spikes?
THank you.

AFAIK it does not work by flowering spikes growing longer

I have a keiki on a Phal that I took over in a very poor state ......its flower spike had been cut back to 2 nodes and quite suddenly i noticed a Keiki was growning

Theres a picture on my posting

To a large degree the potential for a flower spike to keiki is genetic. It seems that the species plants are more inclined to keiki than the hybrids - at least that is what it seems with my very limited experience/knowledge. You can use a paste made for this purpose at the nodes to encourage a keiki to form. I've not tried it yet myself but have thought about it. I've also read that if you cut your spike low instead of high - just above a node - you are more likely to get a keiki than a subspike - again, not sure of the accuracy of this statement. Good luck - mike
