| My Growing Space #2 I created this space after hurricanes Gustav and Ike. My semi-hydroponic Paph hybrids were outside on the big aquarium rim. They seemed to like it. I pulled them in for the hurricanes. My hydroponic species was inside to begin with. Then I got the three species in the front a few days ago and decided to keep them all inside under a light on a humidity tray. I plan to use only worm tea for watering. They are also in front of a south facing window. Attachment 13363

| What kind of stones are you using for the Hsinying cross and the spicerianum cross? Also are you using drainage holes for the pots?

| Digitalgate, I have a greenhouse out in the back yard. But eventually I probably will need a bigger inside space. Jenny, The hybrids are in peat gravel and yes there are drainage holes (4) an inch from the bottom of the glass. The glass is acrylic and I melted holes in them with a hot rod. They have been in the glasses for 4 months. They seem to like it.

| OK...so I've got everyone back inside except 4 cyms that need the cool fall temps. This is my expanded grow space. It looks better in real life when you can see the whole thing in a panoramic vs. bits and pieces in pics. It's not a g/h but I'm really pleased w/the way things came out. The rooms are east (tall windows) and south facing (normal size window). LOTS of good natural light but the expansion required additional lights. Oh yeah, during the day my house is currently fragranced w/zygos and after the lights go out...B nodosa scents the entire house. Smells FABULOUS!! BTW - even though there is some space to add over the winter, I'll probably have to do a bit more 'figuring out' for additional shelving next year. It looks like I have open space on lower shelves in these pics BUT those can't be filled w/plants because of orchid-munching kitties. Thanks for looking!!

| Yeah, it is a lot but...I have room for more. LOL! It's a little hodge-podgy due to the different time of buying shelves and stuff. My goal next year is to expand on it some as well as get more shelving units and have them all matching. I definitely want to get rid of the desk thing (makeshift stand for the aquarium for now) and have something else w/the aquarium on it at the same time added shelves for more 'chids. I'm still trying to get it all figured out. Thanks!

| That's just awesome!! You must have been planning this all Spring and Summer. What a tremendous difference from the empty room I saw a few weeks ago. I had no idea what you were planning ![]() I'm going to make my husband look at your set up. He was so pleased with the little space I have for the twelve plants I have brought in so far. Wait til he sees what can be done when you group them all together--I think I'm jealous
