The first is a Pleurothalis of some sort, I was thinking maybe Pleurothallis allenii, but i think allenii has only one flower per infloresence. But 'm quite sre it is a Pleurothalis of some kind.

The second is actually a Cattleya species, Cattleya araguaiensis from Brazil.

Fred,

Check out the flower and plant morphology and you'll see it's definitely not Restrepia brachypus, and defenitely not a Restrepia at all.

Restrepias don't have the (relatively) wide petals that this one has nor do they have the narrow flat ventral sepal. They also do not have multiple simultaneous blooms like this along an inflorescence. It also doesn't have the tiny narrow column, the 90-degree ventral to dorsal habit, or the pronounced stripes on the ventral sepal. Also check out the long narrow leaves of the plant we've been asked to identify, Restrepias have oval shaped leaves, pointed on the end, on the end of a sheath covered stem.

As I said in my previous post it is a Pleurothallis, possibly allenii or at least allenii-type.
