| A good place to search for info is Google. I googled the plant in question and found it is also known as Trichocentrum carthagenense. If you search at Wikipedia, there is also an article on Trichocentrum. My guess is that its care would resemble care of the average oncidium type, but even that has its range. |

| I agree with snowball about doing a Google search. In regards to culture, I would give it the same as any other Oncidium -- medium to indirect bright light light and water when almost dry or keep damp. That said, I suggest placing it near your east or west window. If you're interested in buying one, you might want to check out White Oak Orchids.

| I wish to respectfully and politely disagree with snowballs on the point that Google (e.g. the Internet) is a good place to search for orchid info. The web is packed with misleading, vague, and just plain wrong information on orchids, both with respect to their culture (ask anyone who has searched for Dendrobium culture info) and to their identification. I have even found errors in Wikipedia entries on orchids. A while back, after beign repeatedly shocked at the wrong info i'd encounter when doing web searches, I did an informal web accuracy check and found on average almost 1/3 of the hits contained inaccuracies. If the web is used, i urge folks to use only reputable authoratative sources like the RHS, AOS, Missouri Botanical Gardens, or other similar sites or to use the web info they find as a starting point and check its accuracy with other authoritative sources like published monographs, books, journals, and the like. The web is convenient but unfortunately not that reliable. It's not safe to assume that information found on the web is correct.

| I believe I grew this a great many years ago, and it was probably killed off by using Cygon 2e. This is a mule ear Oncidium, is it not? I would check out Jay Pfals site, http://www.orchidspecies.com/#sec1 , an orchid encyclopedia, for culture. Jay has a lot of errors, but it is good for a first pass, then compare it to info from other sources on the internet. My guess is going to be medium light, like a Catt, and intermediate temps, but it has been too many years, and I used to practice 'one culture fits all', which I certainly don't do any more.

| thank you for what you said about googling for information, there are many sites I have found that did not have correct information,it is nice to have someone with more experience than I have to confirm this. eva |

| thanks guys I think that I will switch to Oncidium flexuosum (this is the only oncidium I could find) I've started a new thread called "Oncidium flexuosum" ( Oncidium flexuosum ) so I could get some answers there. |

| the problem is not everybody knows what the AOS, RHS etc is. There is a total lack of awareness that these organizations exist for the vast majority of people. Most people would just google "orchid" or "orchid care" and go from there, and neither the AOS or RHS etc even show up when you google those terms! |
