Can I mount Slc.?

Hi. I have an Slc. Love Castle that I acquired shortly before this forum (I asked some questions here about it when I first got it). It was doing quite well, with two new growths and new roots that I could watch grow by the day. After the first time it fell out, I re-situated it in its pot but for a couple of weeks I didn't notice the new growths getting any bigger. Then, this morning it fell out again and I decided maybe it needs a change. I think I'd like to mount it. Can I do this at this point? The larger of the new growths is 1 inch tall and the smaller is 1/2 inch. There are 8 healthy roots, the longest of which is about 3/4 of an inch long. Is it an ok time to mount? I am wrapping the roots in a moist paper towel for now until I get some advice. I am going to the nursery today to get some moss and a stick.

the short answer is yes you can mount the Slc.
I think it will do fine for you mounted.
the only problem you will have is keeping the sphag moist in warm to hot weather.
as you are going to the nursery I wont hold you up please keep us updated

I am not going to the nursery for awhile so feel free to keep the advice coming. I have a Den. cucumerinum that is mounted on a stick and in the hot weather I dunk it in a bucket of water everyday. Would that work with the Slc. too?

Plant Dunking

Dunking different plants in the same pot of water increases the chances that you may cross infect your plants if one happens to be diseased. I preferr to spray mine with a hose or a pump-up spray bottle. Right now my "orchid on a stick" is hung from my trellis and gets sprayed automatically when the begonias get watered.

Thanks Hummer. I just got one of those extending shower head nozzles, perhaps I can take it in the shower and spray it then.

I have Slc mounted and they seem very happy and bloom well. Once you start you will be hooked like those of us who mount all the time.
