Orchid ID

This picture and question was sent to a Master Grdener Hot line today.(I am a Master Gardener). It has tentively been ID'd as a Helleborine(Epipactis Helleboring). It is not native to the US. It comes from Europe. Is this a correct ID? Is the plant invasive?

It sure looks like Epipactis helleborine. Take a look at this page, from the Royal Botanical Garden's Native Orchids page (Canada): http://www.osrbg.ca/files/EPI_HEL.HTM. Doesn't specifically say anything about whether it is invasive or not.

Good luck.

Julie

While i agree it looks like Epipactis helleborine, it's nearly impossible to make an authoratitive ID from a pic alone. Hummer, can you go back to the original sender and ask for discriptive info to compare with the description of Epipactis helleborine?
