| Odd growth on Lc..... This new pseudo bulb of a Lc. Memoria Robert Strait developed a bi-foliate growth - all the previous are mono foliate - but the second leaf has its own little pseudo-bulb, similar to those which are usual on Oncidiums.The second leaf was attached to the first, leaving a long scar on it, and is also split having a small "appendix".In spite of oddity, several buds are emerging  .Is this occurrence (malformation?) unusual, or commonly happens on hybrids? Any comments appreciated.

| Hi Aniko, my appleblossom has similar growth where what looks like a second pbulb is growing from the crown of the plants. Most of my catts also have both uni foliate and bi foliate, I remember asking cynthia about that one and she thinks it's because of many crosses the plants have in them..something genetic, I think.. Let me see if I can get a pic of my appleblossom for you tomorrow, it's rainning right now. |

| It looks like an atempt at a third leaf that never made it. One of the parents of Mem Robert Strait is C. walkeriana which is a bifoliate Cattleya, so it would come as no suprise that a Robert Strait could grow 2 leaves..

| That's good to know, as I have two of those. I wanted to thank you Kevin, I put mine out in the paw paw tree on the east side of the house, and they are loving it.

| update Update after three weeks: 4 fragrant flowers, but surprise - the 'Blue Hawaii' isn't blue, it's rather a deep and intense magenta.The photo can not depict the true color.
