| Yes, fairly normal, though not necessarily common on all types - it depends somewhat on the genetics of each particular cross as to its predisposition to send out side spikes. It is somewhat uncommon to just start sending one out when the main spike is in the middle of blooming. More normal would be side spikes forming WITH the main spike and secondly for side spikes to come out near the conclusion of the cycle of the first spike blooming cycle. Enjoy! mike |
