| Judges Training Day Here are some pics I took at a recent Australian Orchid Council (AOC) Judge's Training Day. Too many to attach to only one post so they're spread out over a few. In order of attachment: Cymb. Del Mar x Olympian Podium Cymb. Emerald Frenzy 'Apple' x Valley Legend 'Gee Whiz' Cymb. Emerald Frenzy 'Apple' x Valley Legend 'Gee Whiz' (a sibling of the previous - note the similarities and differences hybrids can exhibit) Cymb. goeringii - a small charming species

| Kevin, if you look on my Web site in the Cym section, the very first flower you put up, looks like my Valerie Brown Surprise. Very similar features. Great selection you have there.

They take on the form of little birds, of lizards, of insects, a man, a woman, sometimes like a clown who excites our laughter. They represent the image of a lazy tortoise, a melancholy toad, an agile, ever-chattering monkey. Nature has formed orchid flowers in such a way that, unless they make us laugh, they surely excite our greatest admiration." Jacob Breynius |

As you're in the US I suspect you'll be able to find all sorts of goeringii for sale around. You might have to do a little looking. they're very compact plants too. the one i took the pic of was in maybe a 3-inch pot. They come in different colours too, greens, some with a bit fo brown, the cream colour like in the pic, even concolour too. Some even have verigated leaves. They're very popular in Japan where each little mutation is isolated and preserved. they're high on my list of orchids that are both appealing and intriguing.

Oh wait, goeringii is a species so it should never be capitalized: Godzilla vs goeringii. There that's better.
