| Aussie Natives The Aussie Natives are starting to come out. I have 2 Dens in bloom and my Sarcs are starting to spike. For those members in Australia, how are your natives coming on? Lets post a few pics and show the rest of the world what we've got over here! I have a few pics I'll post as soon as I get them downloaded.

| Genny only has a Diplodium out at present. The Thelymitras (sun orchids) are growing rapidly but still look like onion weed at present as they haven't flowered, as is the Diuris, Caladenia (?sp), and Pterostylus (plural). She who must be obeyed is the natives owner.

| I have this Dendrobium speciosum in spike. I still can not tell what color it will be yet ![]() |

| What a coincidence! The upstate NY natives are starting to come out as well now that it's summer. The dandelions, bittercress, chickweed, white clover, and bristly oxtongue are growing all over. Unfortunately, we call these weeds. I am quite jealous of you guys that you have so many orchid natives. Would love to see many pics. |

| Here's pikkies of Genny's collection, a you can see by the size of the pots, some Ozzie natives are very small. I photographed the Diplodium with and without my hand as a size reference. Her collection as seen in the images bellow: 1.Diuris orientis (Donkey Orchid) 2. same as above 3. Diplodium robustus 4. Pterostylus curta 5. Pterostylus 6. Pterostylus 7. Thelymitra 8. Caladenia latifolia

| I need to get myself out to the Everglades and see if I will be lucky enough to be able to view some of our natives in their natural habitat. It's a shame I haven't done that.. considering how much into orchids I am... Fred...I'm excited for you..it's going to be sooooo pretty. I can't wait to see it bloom. Anton... those are some strange-looking orchids..very beautiful.. |

| Hey Anton, tell me about the Diplodium that looks like a Pterostylus. Has someone proposed a name change? I knew there was discussion about slpitting off some of the "red" Pherostylus, but this isn't one of them so I'm intrigued and hadn't heard anythign about this. Anythign you can tellme is more than what i know now. cheers

| I will ask Genny, they are her intrest, I just phoograph them and have a rough idea of waht they are. Yes, it is similar to the Pterostylus, but that's all I know, I'll ask Genny tonight and get back to you. I just found this and edited it into my post : http://www.yonggee.name/Notes/Dipl_robustum.htm

| Tell She Who Must Be Obeyed those are lovely for me. Is she expecting any to bloom this year? Fred do you stand over that monster den and say "Grow, come on grow" then whisper "white flowers"? The suspense is killing me, I want to see the monster plant in bloom. Kevin I am waiting patiently for those pics

| Brook, as you saw she has ONE Diplodium robustus in flower, and we are expecting the Thelymitra (Sun Orchids) to flower when we get a bit more sun, it is cold, wet and dark winter weather here at present. Most Ozzie natives come out in early Spring, late August / early September.

| Ah I see, I was not sure if it was a flower, better to err on the side of caution there, looks a bit alien-like but cute. Kinda why I wondered if they were going to be flowering this year, cause I knew that you are in the cold part of the year. I guess I am waiting to see the flower pics this fall (for us it will be fall anyway). Thanks Anton.

| Here's some of the natives I've currently got cooking: Den Jesmond Sparkle x Zip Den Aussie Parade Pterostylus curta (just noticed the buds starting to come today) Dendrobium tetragonum var. melaleucaphyllum (the buds on this one are very dark, black-ish-mahogany, most of the others are all greenish)

| You have some beautiful natives, boys and girls (she who must be obeyed). I haven't seen them yet, but there is a patch of wild orchids by the road very close by. There is always a note in the paper. There is a woman who has taken over the care for these when they're in bloom. The county doesn't mow that area during that time. Pretty neat, huh?
