I water when I feel it dry down in the pot. They are in a South window in Wisconsin were or wethaer is in the 90s right now. I will start with the bamboo skewer as soon as I find some. One of hte leaves is turning yellow. I got these in the mail on the 15th and a local orchid expert potted them for me I didnt want to kill em of course THey are potted in an orchis pot ceramic with holes on teh sides big enough for roots to grow out of if they felt like it. My other Vandas leaves are mostly yellow I thikn I am gonna lose that one. Tara

I have added the culture sheet for vanda as well.

Vanda,s do like water.

A daily mist would also be a good idea with the warm to hot weather.

It sounds like they need water, Tarad. I agree with Fred. Mine aren't in soil, so I can't help much with how much or how often for you, but whenever my leaves get wrinkled, that's why.

Might be a good idea to pull the plant out of the pot if it is a simple plastic one, by flexing the sides to loosen the roots from the pot (thats why I use plastic among other reasons), and check to see if the roots in the pot are alive. Then just slip the root ball back into the pot. Can't do this if you have clay or a slotted pot with roots coming out .

My list for reasons for leaves shriveling:

Not getting watered often or long enough for plants with fast drying potting methods like empty baskets, no pot, very small baskets.

Roots gone from too much water in the pot.

Systemic fungal attack (wilt type desease) with poor culture making the plant overly susceptable (my problem? Not enough light?). All leaves shrivel and take on a pale, almost bluish caste.

Severely dry environmental conditions that make reason number one above go into effect.
