Boy are they beautiful. Anyone have any pictures, tips for growing them in a southern window sill?

Ascocendas are part of the Vanda family. These vandaceous orchids like medium to high light and will do better when grown outdoors.

Well....maybe, depending on your geographical location. Lots of people in the Great Lakes region grow these and, due to their winters they're not able to grow them outside.

It's always helpful to keep in mind the fact that forum members are located all over the world and that the arrangement one individual may use to grow their plant may not work at all for someone in another geographical location.

The AOS culture sheet will be very helpful in telling what the plant needs, how an individual grower gives the plant what it needs will vary.

Hello guys,
Yes, I agree that Vandas need to be grown outdoors (where the climate is mild enough to allow for this), here in Florida mine is on my patio and blooms 2-3 times a year. It's a monster and has to be kept out there. My ascosendas on the other hand, I prefer to keep hung in a south eastern window. Humidity is 50-60%, Sunlight is great in early morning till just before noon. I received one in spike and it went on to flowwer for weeks. Will continue to update on their progress

Do you plan on growing your ascocenda indoors? Let me know how that goes. I placed my ascocenda hybrid outside, under a tree, and am worrying about it every minute. Maybe I should take it back in?!
