I am learning things! :)

I posted pictures of my newest acquisition a couple of days ago.

Unlike my first Phal which seems to be potted really well this second one came packed in moss.

I was hesitant at first to re-pot the plant because it has such lovely blooms on it. Then I realized that the flower spike had already been cut once so this was probably the orchid's second blooming.

I decided that I'd rather keep the plant than worry about the blooms.
So I started pulling moss out of the pot.

I literally pulled out an entire sink full of moss. This isn't a huge plant. None of the roots were visible on the surface.

A few of the roots looked rotted so I cut them off with a sterile pair of scissors and then repotted it tightly in bark that I bought from the place that sold me the first orchid.

I'm ready to buy more.

I hope you did not repot the bark to tight as that is also bad for the roots.

when repotting i hold the orchid in the pot with one hand and with the other hand i add the orchid mix slowly stoping from time to time and tap the side of the pot to get the mix all through the roots then add more mix do the same again untill the pot has enough mix.

doing poitting this way will hold the orchid in the pot firmly

That's the way that I did it. I tried to keep it about the same density that the other Phal was. I've got my fingers crossed - we'll see how well I've done.
Thanks so much for all of the help!

Atriel - make sure to search the forum about soaking bark before use. If you didn't do this, don't take it out, we can help you get on a watering pattern until the bark softens and starts to absorb water.

Hi PhalPal,
I'm sorry, I didn't see this until now. Yes, I did soak thew bark over night before re-potting.
Thanks so much for all of the help everyone!
