New babies-any info?

Hey all-Just went to my local grower's yearly sale...Yikes! 8 new plants later, I have a couple questions. Picked up a bare root plant tagged Rnds. Peaches. All I've been able to find on the internet is that it's a Renades, but can't seem to find any culture info.

Also picked up a P. Lobbii, Kathy's Gold FCC/AOS-any suggestions for Central Florida growing?

Heather,

I think my first suggestion would be to get a good, general orchid book and learn a little bit about the general culture for the different families of orchids so that when you go orchid shopping you already know a little bit about what conditions different plants require. This will help you avoid plants that will be tricky for you to grow.

Having said that It's difficult to give any advice, not knowing what your conditions are. Are you growing in a windowsill? On your porch? In a greenhouse? Shadehouse? How much light? This is why the sulture sheets are so helpful because they tell you what the plant likes then you can figure out of you can supply those needs.

I went to the RHS orchid registration and found your Renades. It's name is Renades Peaches. Renades is anintergeneric hybrid between Renanthera and Aerides. In your case Renades Peaches is Aerides falcatum x Renanthera Brookie Chandler. Both Aerides and Renanthera are vandaceous orchids (meaning they belong to the Vand alliance of orchids) and so you could probably follow a Vanda culture sheet for starters. You can obtain a Vanda culture sheet at: http://www.aos.org/aos/orchids/page01.aspx

Bulbophyllum culture sheets may be found at:

Happy Growing!
