Floral spike on Rdza.?

I mounted some orhids on a stump a couple of months ago. I could see they were all doing OK. One of them, a Rodriguezia was growing a leaf, or so I thought, but today I thought it lookes more like a floral spike.

Can anyone tell me if it is and also if the plant is too young to have flowers?

I would be thrilled if it is a flower spike since it will my first non-Phal. orchid to flower. My new Colmanara (Odontocidium?) Wildcat 'bobcat' has spiked as well. I don't know which one will bloom first, i.e. , if this is a spike

Pikevi, I'm not familiar with Rodriguezia so I don't know what it's new growth or spike would look like , I might have to see where it's coming out of...sorry. I just wanted to say that your mounts look great .

I've only ever seen a handful of Rodriguezia at nuseries or in shows, usually grown up into large multiple growth plants with lots of spikes and flowers. Each individual growth however was not that large. Enjoy your success. If you get a chance please post some pics of the flowers when it blooms.

From the looks of it the flowers are going to be 'TINY'

Flowers on the 'net look very pretty.

Looks great Pikevi!!!! Do you keep discus as well? My hubby has tanks and tanks full of african cichlids, great for humidity and my orchids!!!!

yes , I do.

Blue diamonds, red turquoise and apple reds.

African cichlids are hardy and will breed well. But , you are very lucky. Most are extremely territorial.

update:

After almost three months the 'spike' is opening. But it looks more like a leaf than a spike now. I will post a picture tomorrow.
