Can you please me help me ID these!

Hi everyone

I have three new plants, that i'll appreciate it very much if you could help me id. None of them have flowers but at least, i hope you can help me since i'm completely clueless about culture for any of them. I've kept some very basic rules about humidity and exposure to sun and stuff like that.

The first i just keep with as hi humidity as i can to avoid getting it too dry. I had already happened.

The second when i bought it had very dry roots and shriveled peudobulbs that dont grow from the base but up as the plant grows. Also you can see that the spikes come from somewhere between the pseudobulbs and the sorrounding sheaths.

The third one i actually rescued from a tree near by my apt where they were cutting some branches due to some power line posts near by. I saw some of the pseudobulbs as big as like 10 inches. (way too big for my space), the spikes where there but the flowers fell, maybe because the whole huge branch fell to the floor.

well here they are, hope you can help me

Dear mdomingz,

Welcome to the forum. I will start with the last plant (the last 2 pics) first. It is some kind of Mormodes, Cycnoces, or perhaps a Catasetum. It's impossible to be more specific until it blooms. It looks like you have a small fan of leaves on this plant? It is in its growing cycle. Give it lots of water and try to give it light similar to the light it would get n the tree in which you found it. The new growth will grow fast and after the bulb/cane has fattened up like the old canes, the plant will loose all of its leaves and go through a dormant stage and look like a dead stick for a few months. During this time they may have some humidity, but no water. Near the end of the rest period it may bloom. You will eventually see a small sprout coming from the base. When it is about 1cm you may start watering lightly, gradually increasing as it grows and begins to develop roots. When in growth (now) it likes lots of water.

Moving backwards to your second plant (the 2nd and 3rd pics), I believe this is some type of Maxilaria. Again I can't be completely sure until it blooms. So many orchids have plant parts that look identical, the only way to identify them is by their flowers. Maxilarias (I hafe a few) seem to like even moisture, not soggy but never dry, watered evenly all year. Some like to be kept cool while others prefer the warmth. Until we see your bloom and positively identify it we can't tell if it is a warm or cool grower.

The first plant....I have no idea what it is, sorry.
