seedlings compared to mature plants

i have 6 seedlings i acquired and i the leaves are starting to yellow a bit so i was thinkin well there might be different light or temp or special care all together requirements for seedlings and in this case paph seedlings. the tiny little pots their in seem to dry rapidly so that might be the culprit. im thinking im might put them in a compot and see how they do.
what do you guys think or any advice?!?

I have a few seedlings of Paph. gratrixianum that were generously given to me by another geek. I have been fairly succesful in growing them so far. I find that seedlings require about the same care as mature plants, although with maybe a little less light (although they are far less forgiving of deviations in their care). I have mine planted in a compot of three with sphagnum moss, they are inside of one of those cheap seed starting trays (the rectangular ones with a tall humidity dome) and they have two T12 2 foot lamps above them, about 12" above them. The temperature does fluctuate somewhat but rarely drops below 70F. I believe that watering is critical when it comes to seedlings, too much and they rot, too little and they dry out. You want the media to just be moist. When I water, I actually use a spray bottle that has some Physan 20 and KLN mixed in and I spray the surface of the sphagnum, this is to help me achieve more even wetting.

Seedlings can be a pain and take a lot of care. Good luck to you.

Justin

Hi I grow all my Paphiopedilum from flasks in community pots, never have any problems this way.
What is the name of the Paphs as some are warm growers, others are coll growers and some definatly are difficult as young plants

i am growing and have grown and flowered several paph seedlings from windy hill gardens. i do not know what the cause would be of that, maybe the change of light levels or humidity. but my small pots stay wet for about 3 days or so. they also have a water absorbing polymer in the mix that she uses.

Hi this is one of my latest Paphs I deflasked back in December 2011, this photo was taken then. They are warm to hot growers and not the easiest to grow.
All still going very well.
Don't mention spag

Hi I grow paphs from flask also I use coco chip for some and fine bark, charcoal perlite for others. I keep them in a humidity dome set up only up to 2 weeks after deflasking or they tend to get rot if humidity is to high I acclamate them by cracking the lid gradually over that 2 weeks then remove the lid entirely. I water the tiny seedling holes pans once or twice a week depending how fast they dry in the environment. This increases in warmer weather.
I also have older seedlings all treated as the adults they do fine
